Look, not having a dad to grow up with is basically a disability- and the way we act now isn't always our full fault. (We do need to check ourselves....) but others have stickers, signs, bracelets to let the people coming into contact with them know about their disability up front... Daddy Issues are usually a point of bullying. Let's OWN IT and wear our "disability" with style and a joke before it becomes a joke.
As I like to say when people get mad at who I am, "Well, I warned you that I had Daddy Issues" and point to my hat as I walk away.
NOTE: This is not an excuse to act a fool. It's a call out to bring attention to the disability that growing up without a father in the home is on a child and it's the only disability where we embrace bullying the victim for what the perpetrator did.
It's comedy gold to pick on fatherless children who grow up into numbnuts ruining society....
except it's reality and they didn't choose that lot in life.
The LEAST we can do it not bully them en masse when we aren't willing to step in and help.
It's NOT your job to be a father to the fatherless, but I'm pretty sure I'd bet comedy isn't your gig either so sit down with your jokes and start praying for the fatherless children who wanted a father.
